Where is this year even disappearing to? When I sat down to start making the August panel I was blown away by the fact that we’re already 3/4 through!

After being stuck in lockdown for most of year, A and I were going stir-crazy. When the restrictions in the UK were lifted slightly we started to visit our favourite brunch spots again and were amazed by the attention to detail to make sure we were safe.

We’ve been incredibly cautions the last few months- so much so that A took it upon himself to be the lead shopper for our house as to not put my poor immune system under anymore pressure. Now that things are a little looser, I’ve enjoyed getting suited and booted in my mask to venture to all our favourite spots.

A few weeks later, and feeling more confident, we decided to take a little road trip to the French and Italian Rivieras for a little summer sun and much needed beach time.

Taking our own car means social distancing is a piece of cake. The ferry over the Channel was deserted and being in Europe masks are obligatory indoors so we feel like we aren’t putting ourselves at anymore risk than we would be at home.

So this panel is an ode to beaches everywhere- whether you’ve travelled internationally to find one, have one local, or are just dreaming of the sea…

August Sandcastle

For the first time in 8 months, I haven’t managed to finish the sample for reveal (on account of being on holiday). This space will be updated as soon as I have finished. Scroll down for the chart though (which gives you a good idea of what the square will look like!

You will need:

• 36m (25 yards) in Stylecraft Special DK in Matador
• 80m (190 yard) in Stylecraft Special DK in Sherbet
• 32m (13 yards) in Stylecraft Special DK in Citron
• 30m (12 yards) in Stylecraft Special DK in Mocha (dark brown)
• 120m (11 yards) in Stylecraft Special DK in Camel (main castle colour)
• 4mm crochet hook. I use my favourite Knit Pro Waves!
• A large-eye yarn needle for weaving in those pesky ends
• Your favourite yarn scissors. Check out this beautiful set.

Final push for the last quarter of 2020 begins now. I wonder what the last 4 months of 2020 will bring – who knew that this CAL would commemorate the weirdest year of our lives (so far!). Hopefully things return to normality soon!
