Under normal circumstances, this would be wedding season. But coronavirus has thrown a spanner into the works. Hopefully the June panel brings a little love into your life regardless…

If you saw February’s panel, you’ll notice it wasn’t a love heart (as a fair few people expected). The bottom of the post did hint at the fact that it would be interchangeable with June’s panel however.
June’s birth flower is a rose. February is all about love. Seems like a no brainer that I’d do it this way round, right?
Well June was actually named after Juno- the Roman goddess of love and marriage. It was considered lucky to be married in her month, and so June started to become the most popular month for weddings.
In the Northern Hemisphere at least, the weather is probably at its best in June. No uncomfortably stifling heat, not-too-cool breezes. It’s like Goldilocks’ favourite month, if months were porridge.
There is also a hoax Facebook post that says June was the ideal wedding month in the Middle Ages because “most people got married in June because they took their yearly bath in May and still smelled pretty good by June. However, they were starting to smell so brides carried a bouquet of flowers to hide the body odor. Hence the custom today of carrying a bouquet when getting married.”
So whatever you’d like to believe: June is the real month of love and romance.

- 4m (5 yard) in Stylecraft Special DK in White
- 26m (29 yards) in Stylecraft Special DK in Black
- 64m (70 yards) in Stylecraft Special DK in Fondant
- 4mm crochet hook. I use my favourite Knit Pro Waves!
- A large-eye yarn needle for weaving in those pesky ends
