2023 refresh: comments from the designer
Congratulations to Kirsty S. who won last months prizes! Apologies that this post comes so late in May but as alluded to in last months post, I am currently travelling in South Korea and left before May had even started! But this does mean that this months prizes are some amazingly Kawaii M&M-themed buttons and some cherry blossom scissors sourced straight from Seoul Knitting & Crochet cafe: Banul.
To enter this month’s panel for a chance to win, post a photo to Instagram and tag me @lovealyuk or submit following this post in the Facebook group (you’ll have to join the group here to access) – you can submit your 2020 panels too!
My time I’m South Korea is slowly coming to an end and I have absolutely loved my time here. I’ll be writing it up on my blog really soon so for now I’ll leave you with a glimpse of my whirlwind itinerary that has left my feel pretty sore. I’ve been from Seoul, to Busan, to Jeju Island, and then back to Seoul to round off the Korean leg of my round the world trip.
It was only when I’d gotten to Hong Kong, that I realised that all the trips I have planned actually take me across the world in 30 day! Definitely not planned, but exciting nonetheless. I’ll be flying to Sydney, then Brisbane, then to the US before finally touching down in London at the end of May. Maybe Junes Greenwich CAL prize will be sourced from one of these places… who knows? But I’m definitely going to be getting souvenir yarn from everywhere I go…
Thank you to those still alone for the near-halfway point of this CAL. I’m extremely grateful for the support and enthusiasm of the crochet community for this pattern and look forward to see some more compeleted blankets!
Original 2020 post:
Uh-oh, it’s my birthday month! I’ll be another year older imminently, and probably none the wiser! But this panel of the Greenwich Mystery CAL won’t be to celebrate me, but more as a celebration of all things Cinco De Mayo!
When I think of May, I think of Cinco De Mayo, and with that, I think of Mexico, my beautiful fellow crochet-loving friend Lorena, margaritas, burritos and a mariachi band. Mexico is vibrant, it’s happy, it has great food and wonderful people, and this amazing holiday is a celebration of its amazing culture (particularly in the US) that has influenced so many things around us.
Arriba!

So here’s a little taste of Mexico, and a bright spattereing of colour to cheer up this strange lockdown situation. I’m dreaming of Mexico and tequila already….
