This week our Local Shop Spotlight takes us to Poland where I checked out a great store brimming with great yarn and accessories. In the heart of Warsaw, I checked out Amiqs, and this is what I found…

*I didn’t attend a Knit and Natter at this venue.
I definitely have a sixth sense when it comes to finding yarn on my travels, and as I was indulging in a little retail therapy at Warsaw’s own Blue City, I stumbled across this great little store!
Amiqs is located at Blue City, Alene Jerozolimskie 179, 02-222, Warsaw, Poland
Now, I for one have never seen a yarn store this size before- not for lack of trying either! This place is absolutely HUGE and the range is incredible. I squealed in delight when I tracked down some more of the Louisa Harding yarn that I am lacking for a yet-to-be-decided project and I am hoarding it one by one.
But the fun didn’t stop there. The shelves reach to the ceilings and are ram-packed full of not only yarn, but also Pom poms, hooks, needles, and look at this amazing wall of buttons!!! (This is one of at least 3)
And the selection of buttons means you can literally find ANYTHING YOU COULD EVER IMAGINE!!! I have never seen anything like this before and I was so in love!
Aside from having a great range of Lana Grossa yarns, there’s a cacophony of amazing brands piled high in this yarn haven, including Noro, Malabrigo, Debbie Bliss and Sirdar. I was super happy that my favourite hook brand KnitPro featured fairly heavily too.
Prices are fairly average here, but there are constant sales and reductions (if their website is anything to go by!) and I was cursing my hand luggage allowance on Ryanair otherwise I would have bought the whole shop out. I left with 3 balls of my precious Louisa Harding and 3 beautiful faux-fur pom poms for the Hats I’m sure I’ll be making in the not-too-distant winter.
It’s a convenient store in a bustling shopping mall, so if you fancy making a day out of it you’d be well catered to! There are knit and natters, but unfortunately there’s a language-barrier to navigate! Either way, I recommend this store if you ever find yourself flying Ryanair to Warsaw with a few hours spare.
