Sometimes my mum comes round to help me have a general little tidy. She’s always surprised when out of seemingly every cupboard or drawer, she finds yarn. Queue the comments: “don’t you have enough?” (no), “all you seem to spend money on is yarn!” (yes), “what do you need all this yarn for?!”… obviously making her one of these amazing patterns!

PS- the Etsy Gift guide might be able to help you if none of these quite tickle your fancy. Find the guide here.

#1 – Flower Bookmark

For the mama who likes to read and the child who doesn’t have a lot of time- these bookmarks are sure to whip up in a jiffy and are a super thoughtful way of showing your mum that you care.

#2 – Crocheted Gerbera Daisies

In the same vain as the suggestion above, flowers are for never but crocheted flowers are forever! Make mama a bouquet she can keep on display all year round. I’m always disappointed with how quickly shop-bought flowers wilt, so these might creep up my ‘to-make’ list…

#3 – Hooded Cardigan

Keep your mum warm all year round with this simple to make hooded cardigan. My mum’s favourite colour is turquoise, so whipping this up in shades of blue would be top of my to-do. Oh dear…

#4 – Crochet Socks

Its near impossible to find good crochet sock patterns – partly due to the reputation of crochet for not being as elastic as its yarn cousin: knit. Vicki Brown is a master of crochet socks, and if you’ve never made a pair, Mother’s Day might just be the right time to start…

#5 – Crocheted Blanket

Now I’m not saying you’ll have time to whip this one out in time for Mother’s Day, unless you’re a super speedy stitcher, but here’s a pattern you can turn out either in time for MD, Christmas, or her Birthday. I give you… options!

#6 – Koala Mum and Baby

Its so strange that here in the UK we celebrate Mother’s Day in March, when the rest of the world tips their hats to theirs in May – the Aussie’s included. Look at this beautiful Koala and baby amigurumi keepsake – it was too adorable not to include in this pattern round up!

#7 – Nursing Mother & Newborn Amigurumi

Reminiscent of the Willow Tree collectible figures, these beautiful amigurumi would make a gorgeous ornament for mama to keep for eternity. Small enough to be made in a couple of days, yet sentimental enough to bring a tear to any mother’s eyes- these would make the perfect gift for a mum with some spare mantlepiece space.

#8 – Mother’s Day Card

Well we couldn’t forget the card now, could we? Grab your scrapbooking materials and crochet hook and even with the scrappiest of scrap yarn, you can transform it into this beautiful card… or if you’re strapped for time, order one using the link below!

Hoping you find something great for mum this year, and don’t forget to check out my Etsy store here for some great (if I do say so myself) knitting/crocheting-mum suggestions too!

Love,

Aly
